Internship: Laboratory Technician Internship

Duration: 3 – 6 months | Start Date: October 2026 onwards

AquaBioTech Group actively encourages students and post-graduates to undertake training sessions at our company, to gain valuable practical, applied, and hands-on experience. From this internship, the trainee will gain knowledge, understanding and practical experience in techniques and equipment used within microbiological laboratories as well as the methods used in undertaking microbiological assessments. The intern will also gain insight regarding the processes and procedures led by ABTG and the requirements of laboratory standards.

Overview of associated tasks

The successful candidate will be working within the ABT laboratory team of the company. The tasks and responsibilities assigned to the technician would include, but will not be limited to:

  • Media preparation and respective quality control
  • Equipment maintenance: verifications, cleaning validations and filters integrity testing
  • Pathogen banking: inventory, maintenance, cryopreservation and growth curves
  • Isolation dilutions preparation for fish challenges
  • Blood Centrifugation and plasma extraction
  • Solution preparation and chemical handling
  • Assisting in method development for any RND projects assigned to labs
  • Maintaining accurate and precise lab records for data analysis and traceability according to GMP and GLP standards

The technician will report directly to the Laboratories Supervisor. The position therefore demands a person with some knowledge of laboratory techniques. Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential, knowledge of any other languages would be considered an asset, although not essential. Motivation for a quality work is fundamental as well organization skills, especially considering the total workload of a standard week that is usually highly demanding.

Qualifications & Knowledge

A successful candidate is likely to have a good solid background in biological/medical/biotechnology sciences, preferably to BSc, although experienced technician candidates and students are also encouraged to apply. Experience in laboratory operating procedures and GMP but not essential as all training in these procedures will be provided.
