Immediate Vacancy: Laboratory Technician
The main purpose of this position is to support laboratory operation within the Contract Research Organisation arm of the company, ABT Innovia. The post holder will be tasked with ensuring day-to-day activities and routine procedures are completed and maintained.

This position is only open for EU/EEA/UK passport holders or TCNs presently residing in the EU with the required permits.
A position within AquaBioTech Group has arisen for a suitably qualified/experienced person to work as Laboratory Technician within the ABT Innovia department. The responsibilities of the selected candidate are defined as follows:
The responsibilities of the selected candidate will be focused as follows:
- Preparing media and conducting quality control checks.
- Cryopreservation of microorganisms and development of growth curves.
- Dilutions of microorganisms used in the studies being carried out in the research facility.
- Supporting the maintenance of up-to-date inventories of chemicals and microorganisms stocks.
- Assist in sampling requirements of any facility or study related tests being carried out within the research facility as instructed.
- Assisting in the daily maintenance of the laboratory.
- Use of diagnostic methods for the identification of microorganisms.
- Support the Lab supervisor in reviewing of lab calculations and data collection.
- Participate in research studies being carried out within the research facility.
- Serum extraction from blood samples taken in the studies being conducted in the research facility.
- As and when needed aid in the liaison with clients, scientific preparation for studies and reporting of results.
- Support the laboratory Supervisor in planning and checking verification, calibration and mapping of equipment.
- Support the laboratory Supervisor in coordinating calibration / maintenance of equipment and update of the corresponding records.
- Demonstrate flexibility in performing other laboratory tasks needed of them.
Qualifications & Experience Overview
The ideal candidate should have an MQF Level 4 qualification in Biology Sciences however MQF Level 3 would be considered. Candidate will be trained inhouse however previous laboratory experience, particularly within a GXP environment would be considered an asset.
The selected candidate will be required to speak and write English fluently, knowledge of any other languages would be considered an asset, although not essential.
The selected candidate must have a clean EU / EEA passport OR be a third-country national (TCN) presently residing in the EU with no travel restrictions or legal convictions and be in possession of a clean driving licence.
Financial Package
The successful candidate will be offered a long-term, fixed-term contract with the company. The starting package offered for this position will be structured upon the chosen candidate, reflecting the experience the candidate brings to the company, but also in line with the cost of living in Malta and could include an accommodation package, if required.
