The AquaBioTech Group is seeking to employ a capable individual to work as Aquaculture R&D Facilities Manager in our State-of-the-Art GxP RAS Facility. Focused on the day-to-day coordination of the operations and running of the RAS systems; the role will also involve managing a team of supervisors, researchers, veterinarians and technicians, carrying out all necessary training and developing procedures and SOPs. The candidate would also support and participate in national and international research projects that AquaBioTech Group is involved in.
This position is only open for EU/EEA/UK passport holders or TCNs presently residing in the EU with the required permits.
Synopsis of position offered
A position within AquaBioTech Group has arisen for a suitably qualified person to work on a variety of projects within the Group’s diverse portfolio as an Aquaculture R&D Facilities Manager at its licensed aquatic research facility located in Malta. The responsibilities of the selected candidate are defined as follows:
- Day-to-day supervision of operations and ensuring the smooth running of the RAS systems and facilities.
- Work in a quality system involving deviations, amendments, change controls, SOPs and audits; ensuring compliance with facility`s certifications.
- Leading a team of Supervisor, researcher, technicians and cleaners; organizing shift roster and managing annual leave, recruitment, reviews and training of staff and intern.
- Maintain accurate inventory and stock take and orders for equipment, consumables and raw materials (water, fish feed, oxygen etc.)
- Be on top of maintenance plan for equipment and facility, waste disposal and pest control.
- Ensure business continuity responding to emergencies and calls.
Qualifications & Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have a strong balance between academic qualifications and practical experience in the field of aquaculture.
Experience in wet labs operating procedures, GMP for the Batch Release of Aquatic Vaccines and GLP would also be a bonus, but not essential as all training in these procedures will be provided.
The selected candidate will have to speak and write English fluently. Knowledge of any other languages would be considered an asset, although not essential.
Financial Package
The successful candidate will be offered a long-term, fixed-term contract with the company that can be extended. The starting package offered for this position will be structured largely upon the chosen candidate, reflecting the experience the candidate brings to the company, but also in line with the cost of living in Malta and could include an accommodation package, if required.
