Earlier this week, Maltese company AquaBioTech Group won the International Expansion award at the European Business Awards in Poland.
Over the past twenty years the company delivered projects and services in more than 57 countries and for this reason it was chosen for its successful track-record in doing business internationally.
AquaBioTech Group is a Maltese company pioneering an integrated approach for sustainable and healthy freshwater aquaculture. With 20 years of experience in the field, AquaBioTech Group is developing on-site large-scale projects across the globe.
Currently, the most challenging market for them is the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It took years and a lot of effort to establish themselves, as the aquaculture market there was in its very early stages. Today, AquaBioTech Group is a recognised brand in the UAE and the company is proud to be delivering the largest aquaculture infrastructure project in the region that will be a catalyst for future developments in the sector. In 2017, we received the Middle East Aquaculture Innovation Award for our work on this project.
The Maltese company is continuously expanding in new and emerging markets. Some of the most recent ventures include China, Mexico, Kenya and Uganda. The company is currently conducting new business development activities in over 15 other markets.
Also, during this week, Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) formally launched AquaBioTech Group story as one of its ten success stories for a promotional campaign showcasing how the network can help ambitious companies internationalise, innovate and grow.
This was the first time that a Maltese company was chosen as one of its exciting and promising clients across the member countries, which today add up to over sixty.
The company was chosen following a successful submission by the Maltese Consortium within the Network, constituted of Malta Enterprise, Malta Chamber of Commerce Enterprise and Industry, Malta Business Bureau and Malta Council for Science and Technology.
In essence, the company participated in more than 20 B2B matchmaking sessions since establishing contact with Enterprise Europe Network, through various company missions organised across the world. AquaBioTech Group also benefited from other services which include assistance on access to finance, mentoring on multi-annual business strategy formation of an R&D capacity.
Today, the company participates actively in EU Horizon 2020 through its strong R&D set-up composed of 15 full time employees focused entirely on technology testing, product development activities, research analytics and evaluation.
Mr. George Mantas, Business Development Manager; who today is an Enterprise Europe Network ambassador in Malta; stated that the Network’s support was crucial for the level of success which the company registered so far.
